TURBO 2 – Attracting Business Events

TURBO2 continues the Northern Territory Government’s focus on attracting more business events and conferences to the Territory, with a further $7 million over two years going into attracting more business events through a business event support fund and targeted business event marketing activities.

Business events deliver significant economic benefit, with delegates often staying longer and spending more on average than other visitors.

TURBO1 investment into business events attraction has seen 38 business events and conferences booked in, most in 2019, bringing more than 12,000 delegates and $29 million into the economy.  TURBO2 is expected to build on this momentum.

Minister for Tourism, Sport and Culture, Lauren Moss said “Through TURBO2, the Government will continue to invest in attracting more national and international business events.

“We know that business events deliver significant economic benefits and support local tourism, retail and hospitality jobs – that’s why we will continue to aggressively pursue business events both domestically and from Asia.

“Business events and conferences are highly sought after; our investment of $7 million over two years means we are able to offer attractive incentives to get organisers to stage their business events and conferences in the Territory.

“Our investment will be supported by the Territory’s first ever long-term business events strategy which will guide the development of the NT business events sector through to 2030,” said Moss.
