A sustainable Venue

With sustainability in mind, the Darwin Convention Centre was built to be as energy efficient as possible. Careful consideration was made for its orientation, shape and integrative design so as to minimise overall energy consumption for the lifetime of the building.

Today, the Centre continues to work towards improved performance as an environmentally sustainable event facility.

As part of ASM Global, a leader in environmental sustainability, we participate in leading environmental sustainable programs and implementing new sustainable practices and programs in all aspects of operations at the Centre. Our goal is to serve as an industry leader in environmental program implementation and stewardship through a partnership with our guests, team members, partners and communities.

We are honoured to be recognised for our dedication to sustainable practices as the recipient of numerous accreditations and awards:

  • 2008 National Master Builders Association Awards – Public Buildings over $50 million
  • 2008 Territory Construction Awards, President’s Award
  • 2008 Engineering Australia Awards (Northern Division), Engineering Excellence Award
