Committed to our Community

The Darwin Convention Centre supports its community and actively seeks opportunities to provide support to local programs, industry collaborations, and other activities as identified by our dedicated CSR committee.

Henbury School. We have a longstanding partnership with Henbury School, providing sponsorships for its annual fundraising luncheon and auction items. Our Executive Chef provides ongoing support to the school with their café, developing new menu ideas with the students and taking Centre staff out to the school to teach preparation skills in the kitchen. We also work closely with the school to provide employment opportunities to their students where possible.

Variety – the children’s charity.  We have been partnering with Variety NT since 2017, hosting over 2,000 children at the Centre every year for their annual Christmas Party. The event is supported through sponsorship, staff volunteers, and product donation. In addition to the annual Christmas Party, we also partner with various charitable activities put on by Variety NT throughout the year.

Paspaley Star Ball.  Always a highlight on our annual calendar of events, we are delighted to offer our support as a Platinum sponsor of the Paspaley Star Ball, a fundraising initiative for the local Starlight Foundation.

Paul Arnold

The Darwin Convention Centre proudly worked in collaboration with award-winning Darwin aerial photographer and artist Paul Arnold to offer a series of complimentary virtual backgrounds created from the limited ‘Elevation Collection’.

From the floodplains of Kakadu and Cape Hotham to the shoals of Ngulbitjik (Bare Sand Island), the collection captures a uniquely stunning perspective of the ‘Top End’ of the Northern Territory of Australia.

Inspired by the light, colours and textures of the Northern Territory landscape, Paul Arnold’s iconic artworks have captured the region like no other

You can download your complimentary virtual background here.

Jason Lee

The Darwin Convention Centre has collaborated with the Larrakia people, Traditional Custodians of the land on which the Centre stands, to rename four of our meeting rooms with traditional Larrakia names. These spaces were named after sea creatures to reflect our location on the water within the spectacular Darwin Waterfront Precinct.

Artist Jason Lee created the stunning artwork for the new meeting room signage. Lee is a self-taught artist who lives on saltwater country and draws inspiration from his Larrakia heritage, using vibrant colours for his artwork.

Gary Lang

In partnership with local Larrakia artist, Gary Lang, we create ways to connect people to the land on which the Centre was built – Larrakia Country. Gary has developed a piece of artwork called Bag of Knowledge, that represents the way knowledge, culture and history are gathered, nurtured and shared. This artwork is used across a variety of our corporate gifts and merchandise. He has also choreographed performances for various functions held at the Centre that reflect the rich local indigenous culture.

Other Activities

We also support other local organisations including:

  • Monthly recycling donations to the Down Syndrome Association
  • Donate food to the Sommerville Christmas Appeal
  • Utilise the services of HPA for convention satchel packing
  • Donate leftover event material to Darwin’s special needs schools
