NT Resources Week 2018

NT Resources Week 2018 has started at the Darwin Convention Centre today.

NT Resources Week combines 3 of the Northern Territory’s foremost resource and construction industry events; South East Asia Australia Offshore & Onshore Conference (SEAAOC), Mining the Territory and Building the Territory along with an extensive combined exhibition. It has fast become the leading meeting point for captains of industry in mining, exploration, petroleum, oil/gas, engineering, construction and infrastructure.

Leading industry figures will speak at what many consider the most important event on the Northern Territory calendar. Speakers will range from minerals explorers to the heads of international gas companies, from world-class economists to federal and state ministers.

Today Chief Minister Michael Gunner announced the re-establishment of a gas taskforce in his opening address of the conference.  The N Gas Task Force, to be chaired by Paul Tyrell, is part of a five point plan included in Mr Gunner’s speech to capitalise on the NT’s gas industry

“Our Five Point NT Gas Strategy will create jobs through exploration, production, supply, export, manufacturing, research and innovation” Mr Gunner said

The plan includes:

– Getting more LNG in Darwin and expand Darwin’s LNG Export Hub.

– Growing the gas supply and service industry.

– Establishing a gas manufacturing industry.

– Growing research, innovation and training capacity and;

– Contributing to national energy security on the East Coast.
